Wood in my Blood- The story of Duncan Munro WoodmerchantA new book of Duncan Munro of Alness, Woodman Extraordinary' memories of his life in the wood trade in the North of Scotland. The book contains Duncan's memories of his childhood adventures with his father. The story of how his grandfather moved around the north with sawmills and then set up at Balvraid near Dornoch in his own business. Stories of his own start in his own sawmill which moved to Dingwall where his daughter and her husband still carry on the family business in Dingwall Sawmill, one of the most modern in the country. Duncan remembers how he found wood long enough for Herd and MacKenzie Buckie to lay keels for many fishing boats and ultimately for the Schooner, Captain Scott. How he got the long 40ft plus trees in Applecross and how they were remoed by the Bealach nam o the2,054 ft high Pass of the Cattle. There are so many interesting tales here that it will remind you of the years gone bye ad a different way of life.
