Alness & District Paths Project
A need was identified to establish walking and cycling routes to:
- Link communities in Alness
- Link Alness with the River, Sea and Countryside
- Link Alness with Evanton, Ardross and Invergordon
- Reach out to Dingwall, Tain and beyond
A survey was carried out by John and Trina Wombell in late 2001 that identified miles and miles of existing and potential routes. These offered wonderful oppportunities to walk, cycle, ride and enjoy scenery, history and nature. The potential for Green Tourism was also highlighted in the survey. Help in developing these routes came from the Highland Access Project, British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, Volunteering Highland, Paths for All, The Highland Council etc. The paths and routes can be used for:
- All ages and abilities
- Wheelchairs and pushchairs
- Active Referral
- Walking, Cycling and Riding
- Transport Leisure and Health
