Results 2006

Alness has waited with bated breath for the  results of Scotland in Bloom on 13th September 2006 in Dunfermline and Britain in Bloom on 21st in Perth.

On Wednesday 13th September Alness won, for the fifth time, the top award, the coveted Rose Bowl for Scotland in Bloom Champion. We also won the Horticultural Award. The small town trophy and the David Welch Memorial Trophy for Something Special. Everyone was delighted and praise was once again heaped on the Alness in Bloom volunteers who go out in fair weather and foul throughout the year to achieve this marvellous success.

This year Alness is even more beautiful than usual as there is a new category in the Britain in Bloom Awards for the Champion of Champions Award. This was between the three towns who had already won two Gold Medals in Britain in Bloom since the Royal Horticultural Society took over the competition.

The contest was between Harrogate in Yorkshire, Garstang in Lancashire and Alness. Going up against such large and well known towns was a daunting task for our volunteers BUT in all honesty Alness has never looked better than it does this year. At Perth on 21st Alness achieved the wonderful title of Champion of Champions. The judges said'The extraordinary efforts by the volunteers over the last 10 years have transformed Alness into a thriving community and environment. A Gold Award was once again given to Alness, and Winner of the Champion of Champions Category.

The whole town is so proud of this achievement and congratulations must go to Carolyn Christel and their absolutely amazing team of volunteers on this marvellous achievement.
