
Alness Heritage Centre
Local Heritage and genealogy Centre where we hold ever changing exhibitions in our two exhibition rooms of items of local interest.
The Heritage Shop is also a treasure trove of beautiful crafts, pictures, hand made knitwear from babies jackets to adult sizes, hand made cards, a selection of beautiful mounted photographs of views and wildlife of the area.
The Heritage Centre now has a meeting room and on Wednesday Evenings for 6 weeks starting from April 16 there will be an introduction to the Christian Faith between 7:15 and 8:45 p.m. for all who would like to find out more. Tea and Refreshments will be provided. Organised by Rosskeen Church of Scotland.
Exhibitions.

The Heritage Centre mounts exhibitions throughout the year. During the summer months one room always contains an Alness at War exhibition to welcome all the ex service personnel and summer visitors who return having been in Alness during the war when Catalinas and Sunderlands were to be seen for many years.

Find your ancestors.
Alness Heritage Centre now has many queries from people throughout the world looking for their local ancestors and family tree. The genealogy unit contains all Census from 1841-1901 for Alness, Rosskeen and Kiltearn parishes, with a good number of other parishes also included. The Parish Records for the three parishes are also at hand along with valuation Rolls and the Ross-shire Journals on Film from 1877-1985, which can be viewed through our Digital Microfilm Scanner. We have also gathered a lot of other information about the area at The Heritage Centre to help you in your searches.

We also hold a large archive of photos of local schools, buildings, clubs, galas, and sporting events over the past 100 years. If you have photos or papers of Alness we would appreciate it if you would allow us to copy them. We would scan and return them to you.
Our friendly volunteer staff are always happy to greet you and delighted to show you round our exhibitions and other parts of the centre.

There is NO CHARGE for coming in to see the exhibitions.
